The Versatility Of A Good Button-Down Shirt

As expected, we are back to discuss what you need to slay in Summer 2022. One of my favorite pieces, not even just for summer, has to be a good button-down shirt. Button-down shirts are so versatile and timeless and can be worn with almost any clothing item to elevate the classiness and cleanliness of the outfit. Whether the shirt is unbuttoned entirely, halfway opened, or fully buttoned, this is just such an easy and cute piece to have all-around.

Personally, my most worn button-down is my plain white one from Brandy Melville, but I have also thrifted several of these shirts. Almost every secondhand store and thrift store has an entire section dedicated to men’s business wear, which is typically flushed with button-downs for a very reasonable and realistic price, and this option is also more sustainable. Honestly, because of how many of these shirts I can find whilst thrifting, I oftentimes find it difficult to get myself to actually purchase these shirts brand new.

Button-down shirts are always my go-to cover-up anytime I am at the beach because they act as the most perfect lightweight top for a hot day. Besides long-sleeve button-downs, however, because I know that some days full-length arm coverage is no match for the summer heat, I have also been really into tank tops and short sleeve button-downs. Patterned short sleeve button-downs and flowered shirts are so summery and have a somewhat tourist-like vibe to them that is so fun for vacations and beach days (As long as they don't look tacky!) A cute tank top button-down would also be absolutely adorable over a bikini or paired with a cute skirt for dinner after a long summer day. In addition to these options, the adaptability of this clothing item makes them perfect for business casual scenarios, layering, and so on...the opportunities truly are endless. All in all, these shirts are the best and can be used in countless ways, so make sure to get your hands on one if you don't already have one!
